Ingredients

  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced

  • 1-2 tbsp of vegetable oil or butter

  • Salt to taste, skip if using salted butter

Directions

  • Start by peeling and thinly slicing your onion. The thinner the slices, the crispier the onions will be.
  • Place the sliced onions in a microwave-safe bowl and drizzle with vegetable oil or melted butter. Toss to coat the onion slices evenly. The oil helps the onions crisp up and gives them that delicious golden color.
  • Spread the onions in an even layer on a microwave-safe plate. It’s important not to overcrowd the plate/dish—if needed, do this in batches.
