A perfect snack of roasted peanuts for those moments when you need a little something to munch on but don’t want to spend a lot of time in the kitchen.
Who doesn’t love a good snack that’s both healthy and delicious?? If you’re looking for something quick and easy, these peanuts are a great option. And guess what? You don’t need an oven. With just a microwave and a few minutes you can whip up a batch of perfectly roasted peanuts that are great for snacking, topping salads, or adding to your favourite dishes.
Tips for Perfectly Roasted Peanuts
- Use a Microwave-Safe Dish: Opt for a wide, shallow dish to spread the peanuts out in a single layer. This ensures even roasting and prevents some peanuts from burning while others remain undercooked.
- Stir Frequently: Stir the peanuts every few minutes initially and every minute after 4 during the roasting process. This redistributes the heat and allows the peanuts to roast evenly, avoiding any hot spots.
- Watch Closely: Microwave powers can vary, so keep a close eye on the peanuts, especially after the first few minutes. They can go from perfectly roasted to burnt very quickly.
- Cool Completely: Let the peanuts cool completely after roasting. They will continue to crisp up as they cool, giving you the perfect crunch.
- Test for Doneness: If you’re unsure, taste one after it has cooled a bit. If its still not crunchy enough, microwave for additional 30 seconds to 1 minute.
- Customise your Flavour: While plain roasted peanuts are delicious, you can easily customise them. Try adding a sprinkle of chilli powder, or even a dusting of cinnamon powder before roasting.
Storing
Store the cooled roasted peanuts in an airtight container. They’ll stay fresh for a week to 10 days if they last that long.
