A creative and festive twist on the Moscow Mule. This Snowglobe Pomegranate Rosemary Mule captures the magic of holiday season with a few simple, beautiful ingredients.
The Snowglobe Pomegranate Rosemary Mule is one of my go-to festive cocktails for the holiday season. Inspired by the charm of a winter snowglobe, I combine vibrant pomegranate seeds, fragrant rosemary, and the warm, rich notes of bourbon to create a stunning and delicious drink. Itβs easy to make but never fails to leave a lasting impressionβperfect for cozy evenings by the fire or as a show-stopping addition to my holiday parties.
The star ingredients come together beautifully, balancing the tartness of pomegranate, the subtle citrusy sweetness of orange juice, and the earthy warmth of bourbon, all elevated with a touch of maple or honey. I love how the rosemary sprigs not only add a delightful herbal aroma but also stand tall like frosted pine trees, completing the enchanting snowglobe effect.
Tips for the Perfect Snowglobe Mule
- Fresh Pomegranate Seeds: Use fresh pomegranate arils for their vibrant color and juicy pop. They mimic the look of snowflakes drifting in your glass.
- Chilled Glassware: To keep the cocktail frosty (and highlight its snowglobe aesthetic), chill your serving glass in the freezer for at least an hour before making the drink.
- Quality Bourbon: A smooth bourbon enhances the richness of the cocktail without overpowering the other flavours. Be sure to pull out something special from the Christmas stash!!
- Lightly Bruise the Rosemary: Before adding the rosemary sprig, gently bruise it to release its fragrant oils.
Why Youβll Love this Festive Snowglobe Cocktail
This cocktail isnβt just beautifulβitβs a flavourful celebration of the season. The pomegranate arils float and shimmer like snowflakes, while the rosemary sprig adds a festive, wintery touch. The drink is bright and refreshing, yet the bourbon adds a warming, cozy depth. A versatile drink for any holiday occasion.

Make It Your Own
- Switch Up the Citrus: Substitute orange juice with grapefruit juice for a slightly tangy twist.
- Add a Ginger Kick: Top with ginger beer for a spicier, more traditional mule vibe.
- Herbal Variations: Swap the rosemary sprig for thyme or sage for a different herbal aroma (though rosemary remains the most festive choice).
- Sweeten Your Way: Try honey syrup or agave nectar instead of maple/simple syrup for a unique flavour profile.

Snowglobe Pomegranate Rosemary Mule
Course: Drinks1
servings10
minutes1-3
hourThis Snowglobe Pomegranate Rosemary Mule is a creative and festive twist on the classic Moscow or Kentucky Mule, and it captures the magic of Christmas with a few simple, beautiful ingredients.
Ingredients
2-3 long sprigs of rosemary
2-3 tablespoons pomegranate arils
20 ml water
60 ml Bourbon/ Whiskey
30 ml Orange juice
1-2 tbsp Maple syrup/ Honey
Soda (to top up)
Secret tip – Use three small white marshmallows held together on half a toothpick to add snowmen to the scene
Directions
- Prepare the Ice
- To mimic a snowglobe effect, use small, round ice cubes. If you donβt have an ice ball mold, regular ice cubes will work, but the rounded ice enhances the aesthetic of the drink.
- Freeze the Pomegranate Arils
- Place the pomegranate arils and small ice cubes in a glass small container and stir in about 20 ml water. Add in a tbsp or two of maple syrup/ honey. This step gives the pomegranate arils a floating, snow-like effect as they form (rather cheery) the ground.
- Freeze partially – to form an ice crust
- Freeze for about 1-3 hours as the water forms a thin layer of ice on the surface.
- Add the (Rosemary) Christmas trees and Snowmen
- Take a few sprigs of rosemary and gently roll it between your hands to release its aromatic oils. Place them in the glass, allowing it to stand tall for a tree-like appearance. Add the snowmen (three small marshmallows on half a toothpick).
Puncture the ice crust so that the trees and snowmen hold in place perfectly.
Freeze till you serve, but for at least a couple of hours!! - Assemble the drink
- Add the 60 ml Bourbon/ Whiskey. Slowly pour in the orange juice followed by soda until the glass is full. Watch as the bubbles rise, resembling swirling snowflakes in a snowglobe.
- Serve and Enjoy!
- Your Snowglobe Mule is ready to impress! Serve it immediately, and let your guests admire the beautiful presentation before taking a sip.
Notes
- Forming the ice crust is important to ensure the rosemary (Christmas trees) stay in place.
- To elevate this to an all new level – you could make snowmen, using small grapes on a toothpick (cut to the adequate size), which puncture the ice crust.
- This is an extremely easy drink to serve, once prepared in advance. In fact each person (including guests) can individually assemble their drink to make it even more experiential!
